There are a variety of advantages as well as limitations in the digital world. This digital representation stems from a historical point of view as well as a modern world view. Looking back historically, the digital revolution posed a lot of advantages to humanity and developing society. Some of these include but are not limited to accessibility, preservation, interactivity, search-ability, analysis and visualization, and collaboration. Accessibility is an important factor as anything digital can be easily accessible to anyone right at their fingertips. It also allows for a larger audience to engage with the content remotely from anywhere they are located. Preservation is another important advantage as digital is a very secure network, able to hold records and preserve old artifacts and documents securely. This allows for documents to not be physically lost or damaged. Interactivity is another big advantage of digital. It has an immense ability for viewers to interact in a variety of ways, such as images, videos, comments, etc. Searchability is important in digital as it enables extensive searches to be done to acquire vast knowledge from several different archives. Analysis and visualization is also another advantage of digital. They can be manipulated and analyzed using computational tools, which allow for discoveries of patterns, trends, or other insights in data that are not necessarily apparent in the raw form. Lastly, collaboration is an advantage of digital as the user is able to facilitate collaboration among researchers, historians, and enthusiasts by providing a platform for sharing resources, exchanging ideas, and collectively working on projects regardless of geographic location.

Beginning with the creation of digital and analog technologies, it created a foundation for the development of further technological avenues. This stemmed into telephones, televisions, computers, etc. Another historical advantage that took place was the invention of the telegraph. This allowed for global communication, connecting with others from across the world. It provided immense opportunities for everyone in terms of communication and passing information from one place to the next. Considering it is the first form of communication, it presented with limitations as well. The time it took to communicate through telegraph was lengthy, having to signal each letter individually, one at a time. There are also limitations to those who are trying to decipher the message being sent, mixing up signals and determining the wrong letters. Outside of the limitations, it provided a first step in communication across technological platforms.
